Special Weather Statement For Thrusday and Friday

...heavy snow possible from thursday night through saturday...

An area of low pressure is expected to approach the area on
thursday night. The rain is expected to change to snow on thursday
night as colder air filters in. The highest snow accumulations on
thursday night should be across the cumberland plateau and southwest
virgina.

The low tracks to the south of the southern appalachians region on
friday and saturday. Depending on the track of the low pressure
center...with the cold air in place...heavy snow will be possible
across the area on both friday and saturday.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the track of the low
pressure center...therefore it is difficult to provide a total
snow accumulations at this time. However...it appears that a
significant snow could occur over a large part of the area.

They are now saying that the likelihood of snow in excess of 4 in. is greatly increasing so I would expect a Winter Storm Watch to be issued tom. if nothing changes.
